Scoring material goods from Buddhists

There’s some combination of irony and sadness in this story, I can’t really tell you how much of each you should feel. For a number of months I’ve been listening to the lectures on Buddhist thought from the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City.  I am not a Buddhist, and I share the same attitude…

Omigod, I’m going to shoot soup out my nose!

I just caught "Wikihistory", by Desmond Warzel, a short story about a collaborative wiki being kept by time travelers.  All the worst behaviors of both time travelers and wikipedia fans are in full effect.  It’s a hysterical read.  Start at the top and work your way down, just like reading fiction.

Web comics

I’ve become obsessed with web comics.  Brendan Cahill’s "Outside the box" is beautiful if not a little enjoyably cliche noir.  I pause and savor each frame. I really like Planet Karen’s diary style, and I’m constantly laughing out loud at the Hollywood cynicism of "Don’t Forget To Validate Your Parking".  You know that xkcd.com speaks…

Go buy Po Bronson’s book

Po Bronson is a busy man.  He’s also extremely good with people, such that saying Po is a friend of yours is probably something ten thousand people could do today.  Po’s new book is about to come out and I want you to buy it.  I’m not saying you should buy it because I like Po, you should buy it because Po is a great storyteller.
