Wasting my time in the waiting line

You know, I know you heard that the Chili Peppers won a Grammy and if you didn’t have it already,Image_00165
went out and bought their new album, Stadium Arcadium.  But let me tell you, you’re missing a couple of other albums that I’ve screened for you that are worth your time.

One is the Dixie Chicks, "Taking the Long Way Home".  A pure country album doesn’t score five Grammy’s, it takes a crossover album to do that.  You need to hear this album for a lot of reasons, not just because super-producer Rick Rubin worked on it.

Another is the John Mayer Trio’s live album, "Try".  If you hated Stevie Ray Vaughn, I’d avoid it.  But I love SRV and this album is worthy of your $11.

Finally, check out this song by Zero 7, "In the waiting line" (see sample on Amazon page or catch the lyrics below).  It’s been on the Garden State soundtrack and on a recent episode of "House", starring Hugh Laurie on Fox.  I think it’s fair to say this song is my personal soundtrack at the moment.  It completely identifies where I am mentally and emotionally with our current trans-continental migration, and my impending 30% "on the road" travel schedule.

Wait in line
‘Till your time
Ticking clock
Everyone stop

Everyone’s saying different things to me
Different things to me
Everyone’s saying different things to me
Different things to me

Woooohh
Do you believe
In what you see
There doesn’t seem to be anybody else who agrees with me

Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe in
What you see

Nine to five
Living lies
Everyday
Stealing time
Everyone’s taking everything they can
Everything they can
Everyone’s taking everything they can
Everything they can

Woooohh
Do you believe
In what you feel
It doesn’t seem to be anybody else who agrees with me

Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe
In what you see

Ah and I’ll shout and I’ll scream
But I’d rather not have seen
And I’ll hide away for another day

Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe
In what you see

Everyone’s saying different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Everyone’s taking everything they can
Everything they can
