You know you need a masu, but where to get one?

masu is the Japanese word for the small, traditional, wooden box for drinking sake out of.  Better Japanese restaurants will keep a stock of them on hand, and allow their regulars to buy their own masu, decorate, and keep it at the restaurant.

However in DC, my regular haunts said they couldn’t get these boxes, and wanting to nest at Tono Sushi, Sarah and I needed to have one.

So, along comes my first test of Sushi Food Co in San Franscisco!  I ordered three (just about $5.50 ea.) and they arrived a few days later.

I think they’re made of pine, and I plan on decorating mine and taking it into Tono Sushi to stay.  You can order one for yourself off of their website.
